Ring of Ouch
A fine ring in spun glass, an unusual and traditional jewel from the Arles region.
This glass ring is also called "bago d'aï" in Provence. It was offered as an engagement ring to symbolize the fragility of a budding love and the promise of a future union.
This jewel has been handcrafted since the 17th century, and was also used as a ring for ephemeral love during the Beaucaire Fair: the men's ring was adorned with a cat on the lookout, while the women's ring was adorned with a little mouse with blushing ears.
