The making of lavender spindles is an ancestral tradition in Provence, they were offered to newlyweds as a symbol of love and happiness.
More prosaically, the spindle placed in the drawers and cupboards subtly perfumes the linen and prevents the moths from laying their eggs.
Description
The weaving allows the flower to preserve, by drying, the essential oil and it is enough to press regularly on the spindle to release the perfume during several years.
Spindle in sprigs of lavender.
