Gardian Men's Blue Velvet Jacket
The gardian jacket, an authentic Camargue heritage.
Description
The gardian jacket for men is made from low-cut blue palatine velvet. Its straight cut allows freedom of movement for everyday activities or riding.
The collar, fronts and pockets are highlighted by shiny black soutache, and the interior is fully lined in black satin. Closure is by Mistral buttons on the front and cuffs. It features front flap pockets, a chest pocket and a back slit for ease of movement.
This jacket retains all the original technical features, while offering a finish that can be worn in more formal or urban contexts.
The history of the Camargue jacket
The gardian jacket was born in the heart of the Camargue, a region marked by marshes, herds of horses and bulls, and the culture of local horsemen. It was originally designed to meet the needs of gardians, riders who spent their days on horseback watching over the herds in demanding conditions.
This jacket has its roots in Régis Reynaud's workshops in Nîmes, where the first gardian costumes were produced at the request of Marquis Folco de Baroncelli-Javon, founder of the gardian nation.
