Women's Palatine Velvet Gardian Jacket Black

Crafted in short-cut black Palatine velvet, it is derived from the traditional models worn by gardians in their day. This black jacket has been adapted for today's woman while retaining the characteristics of the original garment. Its collar, fronts and pockets are highlighted by shiny black soutache, in keeping with the classic details of Camargue jackets.

Fitted at the waist, the jacket is lined with red satin. It fastens at the front and cuffs with Mistral buttons. Flap pockets and a breast pocket keep essentials organized, while a back slit facilitates movement.

A little history

This jacket was worn by the gardians, Camargue horsemen, when guarding their herds in the marshes of the Rhône delta. Designed to be resistant and functional, it enabled the gardians to work on horseback while offering protection against wind and humidity. A traditional piece from the South of France, today it retains its characteristic features while being adapted to the female silhouette.
