Chouan hat
A historic headgear with timeless elegance, the Chouan hat is today a chic accessory for ladies and gentlemen alike.
Description
This hat, worn since the 14th century, has its roots in the history of the Chouans, the royalist insurgents of the French Revolution. A traditional garment that has become a symbol of courage and revolt, its simplicity is its modernity.
Hand-crafted by a historic French hatmaker from semi-rigid black wool felt, this capeline with its mid-width brim and round cap completes a winter outfit with elegance.
An iconic hat for men and women alike, embodying the excellence of French craftsmanship.
Head size
If you'd like to know your hat size, measure your head circumference in centimeters with a tape measure or ribbon at the point where the hat would rest (about 1 cm above your eyebrows). If you fall between two sizes, we recommend you take the larger one.
Care and storage
First of all, although felt is hydrophobic, we recommend waterproofing your hat with a textile waterproofing spray to protect it from rain and stains.
For day-to-day care, a simple, soft hat or garment brush is all you need to revive your hat. In the event of a stain or deformation, lightly dampen the wool by passing the hat over a pan of boiling water. Gently remove with a sponge and Marseille soap.
Do not machine-wash, dry-clean only.
To keep your hat from warping and collecting dust, a hat box is ideal. Alternatively, you can hang it on a peg or lay it flat.
