White ceramic cicada Maison Empereur
A sunny symbol of Provence, this white ceramic cicada is the fruit of a collaboration between two houses committed to Provencal know-how and traditions: Maison Empereur and Maison Louis Sicard.
Description
In 1895, Louis Sicard, heir to a line of ceramists and an emblematic figure of Provencal earthenware art, created his first cicada in response to a commission from the Tuileries de Marseille. His ambition: to represent the soul of Provence through a simple, meaningful object. Inspired by the poets of the Félibrige, this creation gave birth to a timeless emblem, still hanging from facades today like a good-luck charm.
Its inspiration comes from the Félibrige movement, founded a few decades earlier by Frédéric Mistral, who made the cicada the poetic, sunny symbol of Provence with the motto: "Lou soulèu me fa canta" (The sun makes me sing).
This exclusive white edition retains the essence of this motto, while adopting a sober, contemporary aesthetic.
Shaped and enamelled by hand in the Louis Sicard workshops in Aubagne, it gently and discreetly reflects the heritage of Provence.
A discreet, poetic tribute to southern culture and to the craftsmen of yesterday and today.
