Cataplena en cuivre martelé
A symbol of Portuguese gastronomy, the Cataplana, ancestor of the pressure cooker, naturally finds its place on the shelves of Maison Empereur for its importance in the world's gastronomic heritage.
Description
This authentic Cataplana is a true treasure of Portuguese cuisine, handcrafted from hammered, tin-plated copper in Barcelos, northern Portugal.
Its traditional design makes it remarkably durable, even after years of use.
Featuring two half-shells connected by a removable hinge and equipped with a clever locking system, it offers a steaming method that preserves the flavors of food while requiring very little fat.
Its copper coating ensures even heat distribution (not suitable for induction).
Care and maintenance :
- Do not use with metal utensils (spoons, forks, etc.); use wooden utensils instead.
- do not put in dishwasher, nor use abrasive products.
- never place cataplana without liquid or fat on the stove or in the oven.
