Manades scarf
An ecru cotton voile scarf printed with the markings of the Camargue bull herds.
These wild herds of bulls and horses, traditional in the Camargue region since the 16th century, require manadiers and gardians to be able to differentiate their animals from those of others.
To this end, each manade has its own distinctive markings: an iron pattern for equines, an additional escoussure for cattle and a roundel representing the farm's colors.
Description
The traditional Provençal carré is pleasant to wear thanks to its lightness, and can be worn as a choker, on the wrist or even in the hair! A timeless Provencal fashion accessory for a casual yet elegant outfit.
We love the historic character and authentic old-fashioned graphics of this array of markings featuring a variety of geometric signs.
Based on an original document dating from 1963 for bulls and 1985 for horses.
Dimensions 50x40cm.
