Toupie Toton
Is it a spinning top? Is it a dice?
No one knows.
Description
Manufactured by a family business specializing in antique toys and games since 1972, the "Toton" has a long history spanning centuries and continents, from Antiquity to the present day, and from East to West.
Sometimes decorated with numbers, sometimes with letters, it has also been adorned with advertising messages or esoteric acronyms.
It's generally known as a six-sided board, but its Hebrew cousin, the "Draydel", has four sides and symbolizes the festival of Hanukkah.
Used in a large number of traditional board games, the Toton was also, at certain times, a divinatory object in the form of a bronze pendant for young women in love.
It is thrown with a quick flick of the wrist, showing the result on its uppermost face.
A must-have for all times and places.
