Description
The history of the Lyon pot
It was in the 19th century that the Lyonnais pot made its appearance. The canuts or "silk workers", that is to say the workers of the weaving of silk, were entitled to 50 cl of wine paid by the bosses. The latter, to exploit them a little more, made this characteristic thick bottom to reduce the capacity of the pot from 50 cl to 46 cl.
