Chrome embroidery scissors Eiffel Tower
These scissors, made in France by the Maison Sajou. Although delicate in appearance, these embroidery scissors are solid and are not meant to remain in a collection case. The more you use them, the more they will become your hand. The only precaution is not to drop them on the tip.
Description
The manufacture of such a pair of embroidery scissors requires no less than fifteen operations which, for the most part, are manual.
This chrome-plated one is shaped like the Eiffel Tower and is a re-edition of a model dating from the end of the 19th century. Indeed, the Eiffel Tower was erected for the Universal Exhibition of 1889. Jacques-Simon Sajou was awarded a silver medal at the Exposition.
A very important detail allows to judge the quality of a pair of embroidery scissors: the pairing marks. This is the number that can be seen inside each of the handles (a "32" on the pictures presented here). It indicates indeed that the two branches composing these scissors have, from the first assembly operation, been adjusted and set to go together, in other words to "make the pair".
