Mahogany backgammon

Of unclear origin, backgammon, would have millennia of existence until becoming today the king of the table games.

Historians and archaeologists have traced the origin of these games to about 5,000 years ago, but the rules have evolved over the millennia with technical progress and the meeting of cultures. Indeed, if the origin of the popularized name is clearly English, the countries without a national equivalent with similar rules are rare: in France the "toute table" was played until Napoleon, still played in Greece under the name of Portes, in Turkey it is the Tavla, in Georgia the Nardi, in Israel and Palestine we speak of Chech Bech, ...

This long history, repeated all over the world, makes backgammon one of the most universal games.
