Gisuké Japanese Wood Chisel Set, 3 Pieces
Description
A chisel is only as good as its blade. This one is forged from 62 HRC carbon steel, so the edge lasts longer between sharpenings and stays precise even in hardwoods.
The set comes with three widths chosen to work together: 9 mm (3/8 in) for narrow mortises and tight detail work, 15 mm (5/8 in) for everything in between, and 24 mm (1 in) for rabbets, recesses and wider paring cuts. Between them they cover most everyday joinery and cabinetmaking tasks, with no overlap.
The handles are white oak, a dense wood that takes mallet blows without splitting or warping. The grip is firm and well balanced for hand work.
These chisels are made in Japan by a manufacturer that specialises in hand tools for woodworking, with the attention to detail that tradition brings.
A set you buy once, look after regularly, and rely on for years.
Care
Wipe the blades clean after each use so moisture doesn't sit on the carbon steel.
Dry them thoroughly before putting them away.
Apply a thin coat of oil to the blades to prevent rust.
Sharpen regularly to keep a clean edge.
Check the white oak handles and rub in a little oil if the wood starts to look dry.
