Premium Ryoba Japanese Saw with Hollow-Ground Blade
Description
The hollow-ground blade on this Ryoba saw is machined thinner than its own kerf: it never grips the cut walls, never binds in the wood, and the polished finish cuts friction further with every stroke. The result is a remarkably clean, burr-free cut.
The double-edged blade is what makes the ryoba so practical: one side is rip-cut teeth for cutting along the grain, the other crosscut teeth for cutting across it. One saw does the work of two.
The blade is high-quality tool steel, which means it can be resharpened with a Japanese needle file and kept in service for years.
This Ryoba is made by a Japanese manufacturer with roots going back to the 19th century, specialising in precision hand tools.
The range comes in six blade lengths, from 180 mm (7 in) to 330 mm (13 in), covering everything from fine joinery work to breaking down large stock. The larger-tooth versions also handle green wood and garden timber well.
