Pencil holder compass, made of steel with bronze finish, with hardened tips, quick action screw.

Length of shaft 150 mm, opening 160 mm.

A pencil holder compass for drawing circles and arcs on wood, cardboard or sheet metal, or for transferring a measurement. One leg carries a steel point, the other a ring that takes an ordinary pencil. Opens up to 160 mm. The joiner's marking-out tool.

Legs in bronze-finished steel, hardened points so they do not blunt. A quick-action screw sets the spread: slide the leg to the size you want then lock it, without turning the screw along its whole length. Made in France by La Cible.

Stick the point in the centre, set the radius against a ruler, tighten, and turn while tilting the compass slightly in the direction of rotation so the pencil follows without skipping. A drop of oil on the joint from time to time, a dry cloth on the legs.
