Description
The cherry wood handle and sheath set the tone right away: this is a well-made tool, light in the hand and comfortable to use. Sakura, Japanese cherry, has a fine grain and a warm tone that goes beyond looks. It gives a natural, balanced grip that makes extended work less tiring.
The blade is forged in SK5 carbon steel by a long-established Japanese manufacturer. SK5 is known for taking a very fine edge and holding it over time. The kiridashi is designed to score a clean line in wood before cutting, chiseling, or joinery work, that initial mark is what keeps everything that follows accurate.
Beyond woodworking, this kiridashi handles leather and fine materials just as well, making it useful for marquetry, carving, or any precision task where a sharp, clean line matters most.
Two blade lengths are available: 60 mm (2⅜ in.) for fine work and tight spots, 75 mm (3 in.) for a more assertive stroke and greater range of movement.
