Description
Pressed from the seeds of the Japanese camellia (Tsubaki), this is a pure plant oil with no chemical additives. That plain composition is what makes it work: it leaves no sticky film, has no smell, and won't stain wooden handles or workbenches it might drip onto.
Its main job is rust protection for carbon steel tools. Kitchen knives, saws, wood chisels, hand planes: wipe on a thin coat with a cloth every so often and the blade stays in good shape, even on tools that sit in a drawer for months.
Camellia oil suits very different kinds of work. Use it on kitchen knives, garden tools, woodworking tools or the shears used for bonsai. One bottle covers the whole workshop.
Made in Japan by a long-established manufacturer, it belongs to a blade-care tradition that goes back several centuries. The 100 ml (3.4 fl oz) bottle has a long, thin spout, so you can dose it precisely.
It goes a long way, since each application only needs a few drops.
