Coconut dish sponge

This coconut fibre dish sponge replaces the scouring pad. It is a ball of plant fibres, rough to the touch, that scrubs saucepan bottoms, dishes and chopping boards without chemicals and without plastic.

It is made solely of coconut fibre, taken from the husk of the nut and packed into a ball. No synthetic foam, no green scourer: once worn out, it goes in the compost. It is made in Germany.

Wet it, scrub, rinse, and stand it on the edge of the sink so it dries quickly; coconut fibre dries fast, which limits the smell of ordinary sponges. It suits stainless steel, enamelled cast iron and glass; keep it off non-stick.

At first it sheds a few fibres; that stops after the first few washes.
