A wooden Pythagoras table for learning multiplication tables by seeing them: a red board with a grid of 10 by 10 squares, the numbers 1 to 10 along the row and down the column, and a hundred small wooden tiles bearing the answers. The child places 18 where 3 and 6 meet.

The board measures 28 x 28 cm, with a light wood frame and a red background. The tiles are stored in a wooden box with a lid, and a printed control chart, to hide or consult, lets children check their answers. Suitable from age 3.

The method: hide the answer chart, choose a row, and lay down the answers in order, then out of order. It is the classic material of Montessori classrooms, where children learn by moving objects.
