Square black bakelite cover plate

A square cover plate in black bakelite: the finishing plate that goes around a flush-mounted switch or socket, to hide the box and the edge of the hole in the wall. It goes with the round-bodied mechanisms from the THPG range we offer, which are sold without a plate.

Moulded bakelite, black and glossy, 8 cm square, with a 5 cm round opening and four positioning notches. It fits the bakelite and duroplast series, which are the same height; not the porcelain series.

It goes on over the mechanism once that is fixed in its flush box, and wipes clean with a damp cloth, no solvents.

Bakelite was the first moulded resin, the one used for pre-war switches and radio sets; its deep black surface has no equivalent in ordinary plastic.
