Opinel No. 8 in oak gift box
Due to new U.S. regulations, this item cannot be shipped to the United States.
Description
An Opinel No. 8 with an ebony handle, presented in a natural oak box. It is the classic pocket knife in its gift version: the blade and the mechanism are those of every No. 8.
The blade is stainless steel, 8.5 cm. The ebony handle, matt and oiled, is crossed by a thin inlaid line of aluminium. The Virobloc safety ring locks the blade open or closed. It is made by Opinel in Chambéry, in Savoie.
Stainless steel copes with damp, but the wooden handle does not: no dishwasher, a wipe after use and a drop of oil on the ebony from time to time. If the wood has swollen and the blade sticks, tap the heel of the handle on the edge of a table and the blade comes out by itself.
The Opinel was born in 1890 in Savoie; the No. 8 is the most common size.
