Description
The Nontron No. 22 is a folding pocket knife with a rotating ferrule, a 10.5 cm boxwood sabot handle and a blade of about 8 cm. It is the compact size in the range, the one that fits in a pocket.
The handle is French boxwood, dried for several years before being turned, then pyrographed with the Nontron motifs: the inverted V and the dots. The sabot shape, pot-bellied and rounded at the heel, sits well in the hand. The brass ferrule turns around the pivot to lock the blade, open or closed.
Wipe the blade after use and put it away dry; the boxwood likes a drop of oil now and then and never goes in the dishwasher.
It is made in Nontron, in the Dordogne, by the Coutellerie Nontronnaise, as it has been since the sixteenth century: the oldest knife in France still being made.
