Opinel No. 8 to carve yourself
Due to new U.S. regulations, this item cannot be shipped to the United States.
Description
An Opinel No. 8 to carve yourself is the Savoie folding knife supplied with a rough handle: a block of maple left thicker than on the classic No. 8, which you shape yourself to get an Opinel that fits your hand. A knife to make your own, for people who enjoy working wood.
The stainless steel blade measures 8.5 cm, as on the standard No. 8, and the rotating ferrule locks it open or closed. The maple handle is fitted as it comes, without varnish. Made by Opinel in Savoie.
Draw the shape in pencil, rough it out with a knife or a gouge, refine it with a rasp, then sand with fine paper. The blade frees up as the handle gets thinner. A little linseed oil to finish.
Opinel makes it clear: once carved, this knife may not be sold on.
