Okubo Bonsai and Garden Scissors
Description
Pruning a bonsai takes a level of precision that ordinary scissors can't deliver. You need to reach a young shoot buried in the foliage, take off a stray leaf, or cut a small branch without disturbing the balance of the whole tree. Okubo scissors were made for exactly that. The slim blades get into dense growth, and you stay in full control of every cut, with no forcing and no guesswork.
The blades are forged from Aogami carbon steel, also known as Blue Paper Steel, one of the Japanese steels prized for taking a fine edge and holding it. It asks a little of its owner, but the care is simple: wipe the blades after each use and rub on a thin film of oil. That is enough to protect them and keep them sharp for years.
Beyond bonsai, these scissors work well for trimming houseplants, harvesting fresh herbs, or cutting stems for ikebana.
They suit any job where the gesture matters as much as the result.
Made in Japan by a long-established workshop that specialises in traditional gardening tools.
