These pruning shears are made in Japan by a long-established manufacturer.

The blade is cut from S58C carbon steel, chosen for its hardness and its ability to hold a clean edge over time. This is not ordinary stainless steel. It needs a little care after use, and in return it lasts a very long time and sharpens far more easily than any stainless blade will.

At 200 mm (8 in), the shears strike a balance between handling and cutting power. They are not so short that you lose leverage, nor so long that you lose precision, so they work as well in the garden as at a florist's bench.

S58C steel is easy to resharpen with a whetstone or a suitable sharpener.
