Description
A wooden cocktail muddler, the tool used to crush mint, lime and sugar in the bottom of the glass before building a mojito or a caipirinha. It also works for berries.
It is turned from solid beech, a dense wood that does not split under the blows. It measures 22 cm long and 3 cm in diameter, enough to reach the bottom of a tall glass. Made in Europe.
Use it by pressing and twisting, not pounding: the mint should be bruised to release its scent, not reduced to a pulp, or it turns bitter. After use, rinse it in hot water, wipe it and leave it to dry standing up. Avoid the dishwasher and soaking, which make the wood swell.
A little cooking oil on a cloth, now and then, keeps it from greying.
