Handcrafted in small series in a ceramists workshop in Portugal.

The shell soap holder is a white ceramic dish in the shape of a shell, to set by the washbasin or on the edge of the bath. Its ribbed relief recalls a scallop shell; on a chest of drawers it also serves as a tray for rings or earrings.

It is 15 cm long, 10 cm wide and 3.5 cm tall, enough to take a standard bar of toilet soap. The piece is shaped and glazed in small runs in a ceramicists' workshop in Portugal; from one piece to the next, the ribs and the scalloped edge vary a little.

Soap dries more slowly on a solid surface than on a slatted soap dish: let it drain before putting it back, and rinse the dish in hot water now and then, without abrasive powder.
