Sold empty without deck, made of wood in the Jura region.

This wooden box for a card game holds a standard 54-card deck, or a 32-card one: it is sold empty, without cards. It replaces the cardboard case that always ends up torn.

It is made of light solid wood, with a sliding lid that opens through a half-moon notch. It is made in France, in the Jura, the home of the wooden toy.

The wood is left natural: wipe it with a dry cloth and keep it away from water. Over the years it takes on a warmer tone. If the lid gets stiff in damp weather, rub the grooves lightly with a candle.

It suits the standard size of poker and bridge cards; a tarot deck, which is larger, will not fit.
