Brass Camargue cross pendant
Description
A Camargue cross pendant in gilded brass, to wear around the neck on a fine chain or hung from a bracelet as a charm. Two sizes: 12 mm, discreet, or 24 mm.
The brass is polished and fitted with a bail. The design follows the Camargue cross: three arms ending in the trident of the gardians, the Camargue herdsmen, the heart in the centre, the anchor at the base.
Brass takes on a patina with time and contact with the skin. A soft cloth brings back its shine; keep it away from sea water, swimming pools and perfume sprayed directly on it.
The Camargue cross was designed in 1926 by the painter Hermann-Paul for the Marquis Folco de Baroncelli, then forged in Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer. The tridents stand for the faith of the gardians, the anchor for the hope of the fishermen, the heart for the charity of the Saintes Maries.
