Description
A box of 10 CO2 cartridges for a seltzer siphon, by Kayser. One cartridge carbonates a litre of water: fill the siphon with cold water, screw the cartridge into the cartridge holder, shake, and you have sparkling water for cocktails, cordials or the table.
The cartridges are steel, single use, filled with carbon dioxide. The box carries the mark of conformity with standard EN 16509, which covers gas cartridges for household appliances.
The water must be properly cold to absorb the gas, and keep the siphon away from knocks once charged. Empty cartridges go in the metal recycling; store the box away from heat. The siphon has been a bistro object since the 19th century; this is its only consumable.
