Cast iron hexagonal weights
Due to new U.S. regulations, this item cannot be shipped to the United States.
Description
Hexagonal cast iron weights, for weighing on a mechanical pan scale, such as a Roberval or an old kitchen scale. They are sold individually, in the usual masses: 1 kg, 500 g, 200 g and 100 g, to complete a broken set or rebuild a full one.
Each weight is in raw cast iron, hexagonal in shape, with the mass cast in relief on top and a steel ring for picking it up. It is the classic shape of French trade weights.
They are used with a two-pan scale: the weight goes on one side, the goods on the other, until the beam balances. They are not calibrated for regulated commercial use, but accurate enough for the kitchen. If the cast iron picks up a film of rust, wipe it with a lightly oiled cloth.
