A waffle iron to set directly on the heat source: gas burner, electric hob or barbecue embers. No plug: the iron heats up and the batter cooks between its two plates.

The plates are cast aluminium, a light metal that heats up quickly and spreads the heat evenly. The two long handles end in wooden grips and a hook for hanging the iron. Total length 30 cm; the waffles come out at 13 x 12 cm, 3 cm thick. Made in Italy.

Heat the iron closed, grease it lightly, pour in a ladle of batter, close it and turn it over halfway through cooking. After use, wipe it while still hot with paper; no dishwasher, which dulls the aluminium and damages the wood.
