Red enamelled round trivet

This red enamelled round trivet protects the table or worktop from a casserole, a dish straight from the oven or a saucepan. Its four feet raise it up: air circulates underneath and the heat does not reach the wood or the tablecloth.

It is made of enamelled steel, pierced with circles and triangles, 18 cm across, a size that suits most casseroles and gratin dishes. It is made in Spain by a household goods company established in 1963. It also comes in a stainless colour.

Enamel washes with a sponge and hot soapy water. Avoid abrasive scourers, which scratch it, and knocks on the edges, which can chip the enamel: the metal underneath would then rust. Dried properly, it keeps its colour for years.
