Wooden door wedge

A wooden door wedge, the block you slip under a door to hold it open while you come through with your arms full, air a room or stop it slamming in a draught. It works on tiles, parquet or terracotta, and leaves no marks.

It is 14.5 cm long and 2.5 cm wide, in raw solid wood. The species is sent at random, beech or oak, depending on what the workshop has to hand; both are hardwoods that do not crush. Made in Germany.

The gentle slope lets you push it in with your foot to hold the door, and free it with a tap of the heel. On a very smooth floor, push it in a little further; on an uneven threshold, find the right spot. There is nothing to maintain, and if it picks up a patina or marks over time, it holds the door just as well.
