Meat tenderizer
Due to new U.S. regulations, this item cannot be shipped to the United States.
Description
This meat tenderizer, or meat mallet, is for flattening and tenderizing escalopes, slightly tough steaks or paupiettes before cooking. The square head is covered in pyramid-shaped points that break the fibres rather than simply crushing them.
It is in cast aluminium, in a single piece including the handle, and measures 26 cm long. The handle is notched for grip and drilled with a hole at the end for hanging. Aluminium doesn't rust.
Place the meat between two sheets of baking paper and strike with regular blows, from the centre outwards, without going at it too hard: the aim is to tenderize, not to pulp. After use, wash by hand in hot soapy water, with a brush to get between the points; avoid the dishwasher, which dulls aluminium.
